This is made possible by Telkomsel; 824 out of 1.695 villages in West Sumatra are now connected in a communication and information network. The project is part of a government program, Universal Service Obligation (USO). The whole project itself plans to cover 24.051 villages in Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Borneo.

One thing that will surely help a lot in leveling up the playing field is the Desa PINTER (Desa Punya Internet) program (Village With Internet). It might be overwhelming to the residents at first, but I believe soon it will become a routine.

So far, Telkomsel has installed materials and infrastructure needed to complete this project in 8.200 points. It is expected that the entire 24.051 points will be covered by the end of 2009.

In addition to building communication and information network, Telkomsel also implemented the innovation of alternative source of energy, namely solar cell, micro hydro,  and win turbin.

With a more connected Indonesia, investors will find it more lucrative to do business there. Way to go!
