Purbalingga Regency, located at the slopes of Mt. Slamet, has many strong-flowing rivers suitable for kayaking. “There are many challenging rivers for kayaking,” Andraz Krpic, a kayaker from Slovenia, said yesterday.
For the past two weeks, he has been kayaking on Purbalingga’s rivers. Krpic described Purbalingga as a “kayak city.” He has kayaked in Tung Tung Gunung and the Tambra and Klawing rivers. According to Krpic, Purbalingga has good potential to become a kayaking destination for tourists.
In Purbalingga, the Tirtaseta kayak school has produced national kayak athletes. Tirtaseta Kayak School director Toto Triwindarto, said Purbalingga was often visited by international kayakers. Kayakers from France, the UK, and Spain visit Purbalingga especially to kayak. “This shows that Purbalingga is an attractive kayaking destination,” said Toto.
