Indonesia’s Pharmaceutical Industry Improved

The national pharmaceutical industry registered a significant growth compared to Malaysia and Singapore. In fact, Indonesia still books lower expenditure in terms of health issue.

According to an analyst at PT BNI Securities, Akhmad Nurcahyadi, the performance in pharmaceutical industry is related to macro growth as well as issuers’ business expansion.

“Regulations and health aid projects supported by international donors have significant contribution toward the development of national pharmaceutical industry,” he said in a statement.

Referring to data of IMS Health, the pharmaceutical sector in Indonesia grows by around Rp29.98 trillion in 2008 to Rp33.96 trillion in 2009. By the end of 2010, the amount hit Rp37.53 trillion.
