Benoa, World’s Best Port

Bali’s southernmost port of Benoa has been names the “Best Port Welcome 2010″ by London-based Dream World Cruise Destination Magazine.

The recognition was handed to Sapta Nirwandar of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention 2011 held at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Florida on March 16, 2011.

Benoa Port

Iwan Sabatani, general manager of the Benoa Harbor told the national news agency Antara: “We are grateful we have received the award as the best port. The award will be a motivation to further improve services at the largest sea port on the island .”

Sabatani pointed to the award as evidence that Benoa port has met international standards and gained international trust. Adding: “We always provide international standard services to cruise ships which anchor at Benoa port. We are gradually improving the facilities and infrastructure supporting the pier, so the service will be better in welcoming the cruise ships’ arrivals in Bali.”

The port manager said that at least 140 cruise ships will visit Indonesia in 2011.
