A Thousand Miles Smiles

Sapu Angin II

How far can your car go with only 1 liter of gas? 10-12 km? This prototype car made by students of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember of Surabaya (ITS) is said to be able to reach 1000 km with only 1 liter of gasoline. This car, called Sapu Angin I (Windblow) will join the 1st Shell Eco-Marathon Asia in 2010 in Kuala Lumpur.

ITS is now also creating Sapu Angin II for Urban Concept-Vehicle. Gosh, I am so proud of these young students. I really am.

Bro Ian, isn’t it your almamater?

ITS is abbreviation of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember not Institut Teknologi Surabaya.

What a great achievement. But for me, there’s a problem, which is the name of it. I think the name should be more commercial because this project will be sold in the public market and also be our superior ‘made-in-indonesia’ product, right? (Well, i hope so). So, I think they should rename them.

Rest, I’m so proud of ‘em. They’ve proven to the world that Indonesian students cannot be underestimated. They’re smart. Very smart. Wish them all the best in the 2010 Shell Eco-Marathon Asia. God bless them. God bless Indonesia.

I am sure, once it’s released to the market, it will be better named. Have you heard that Indonesia is now considering to sell for public, cars which are known so far as prototype? We have Esemka, Tawon, Komodo, Arina, and more.

    please google :)

I hope our government will give their best support for this project, so that it can be a role model for development of car industry in Indonesia. Then they will no longer use Toyota Royal Saloon for doing their official duties.

    Great move for ITS, bravo!
