It was 29 years ago when Anggun C Sasmi (now only known as Anggun) released her first album with ”Mimpi” (Dream) as the hit single. The song was really popular; almost every children at my age (I was only 12 years old then) could easily memorize the whole lyrics. Two or three more albums followed and gained nearly the same response from market, and suddenly she moved to France to try her luck in entering global music market.
She amazed me (and the world) with her new song released from France titled Snow from Sahara in 1997. Until this very very moment, this song still raises my adrenalin everytime i listen to it. It was the first breakthrough of Anggun internationally, until not so long ago, the American On-Line (AOL) survey for International Diva, delivered a shocking poll result in which Anggun was placed in rank #4 above Beyonce. Well, true, it’s only a survey. However, it delivers a strong message, that Anggun from Indonesia, has elegantly amazed world’s music audience.
