What do you know about NATO? NATO is undoubtedly the strongest military alliance on this planet where world’s strongest armed forces allied in the post world war II to defend themselves from the communist bloc in eastern Europe and USSR. Until this very moment, NATO still exists and becomes the sole power which has the greatest capability.
But not many people know that 13 armed forces under NATO wear military uniforms made in Indonesia. Sritex, one of Indonesia’s biggest textile companies located in Solo, Central Java, had secured a contract to produce NATO military uniform for its 13 members.
The quote below is taken from Sritex’s client list on its website:
“Sritex, one of the world’s most trusted uniform suppliers, has been certified as an official partner outside Europe to produce military uniform by NATO. With this credibility, Sritex currently supplies uniform and field equipments to more than 18 countries of the world…“
After supplying assault rifles and military uniforms, what’s next from Indonesia to supply the world’s military? We are going to the path of becoming one of the military centers of the world.

I hardly think that this is something Indonesian’s should be proud of. As a citizen of Indonesia I would prefer my country to leave well alone from anything military. Especially NATO. An outdated Military Alliance that has no necessity to continue it’s existence (Hello??!!! The USSR is no more! There is no communist bloc so your violence is not needed anymore!)
A Military Alliance that allies itself with the Ex-US President Bush. Bombing woman and children in Afghanistan.
I for one will never be proud that a textile factory in my country produces their uniforms! It is shameful!

It’s true marisa. However, in that ironic reality, our country has a positive achievement. This put Sritex as a world textile leader. That’s the point we are trying to make.
Thank you!

I do not agree with you, Marissa.
Try to think not only from one point of view. NATO might have done wrong to the people of Afghanistan, but their presence is also needed to help protect innocent people from the savagery of the Taliban. See how many casualties caused by the Taliban, the example of suicide bombing, violence against women, and people like you still blame the soldiers?

Reverse you read like a NATO PR man.
These casualties are the result of the war the US started for wrong reasons. Bombing a countries because they claim one criminal may be their is just way too much overkill. I guess you wouldn’t mind Indonesia being bombed by aircraft if that was needed to kill corrupt officials.
At least the Taliban have better aim than NATO who bomb weddings. Even their special forces repeatedly kill Afghan government officials including their women and children at night in their own homes, by mistake.
The violence against women was much worse outside Taliban rule, where they were getting raped by various warlords. The famous videos of some Afghan warrior beating some women were of the Nothern Alliance warlords financed by the US.
The Taliban may make women wear Burkas and definitely have issues, but thats better than getting raped and bombed.
I guess you would probably include the sexslavery and trade in women for forced prostitution by NATO mercenary corporations like Blackwater now XE or Armorgroup as liberating women.
Regarding the sale of equipment to NATO in general.
By not selling to them you will send a signal you do not trust them with your weapons. And you will likely not be able to get any weapons from them as well. Although idealistically it would be desirable to disconnect from them, reality may not allow Indonesia to do so. Weakness breads sin indeed.
On the other hand you don’t have to enjoy it. Although you can be proud in the quality of your products I guess. You know your products are good when the enemy uses them (not necessarily saying NATO is the enemy).
