Indonesia’s Car Exports

Indonesia’s Car Exports

I have posted in GNFI few months ago, regarding UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) report in 2008 which put Indonesia in top 15 of World’s biggest automakers. That put Indonesia above the other two automaker in ASEAN, which are Thailand (#2) and Malaysia (#3).

Not so many people know that Indonesia exported well over 100,000 CBU (Completely Built-up) cars to Middle East, East Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, in 2008 alone, and the figure is likely to grow in years to come. From January-May 2009, total car exports reached more than 43,000 units, and considering world economy is likely to recover, the demand is expected to rise again in the remaining months of 2009.
