The New Champion Of Southeast Asia

The New Champion Of Southeast Asia

Discussing about chess, so far we’ve been repeatedly informed about the great players from Russia and East Europe (ex-communist states). I am not sure why, that region creates so many famous and triumphant players. Maybe because they tend to spend most of their times to laze around and play chess to kill time. Well, maybe not. Maybe, they’re just that smart.

Indonesia has many great players too, and have been recognized globally. The difference from those from Russia and East Europe is that Indonesian players are mostly still very young. Of course we know World Grand Master Megaranto Susanto, who is only 22, and other younger players are mostly below 20.

Now meet Medina Warda Aulia, born 12 years ago, she just championed a ASEAN chess competition in Vietnam, several days ago. Last year, she also came up as a champion in World Youth Chess Championship. Way to go, little gal!
