The Professor Of IPB Who Won International Award

A few months ago GNFI posted an article about several students of Bogor Agricultural University who won the first and the second place in international food competition held by IFT in its Annual Meeting and Food Expo 2010 (read again here).  Now, it’s time for the lecturer of IPB who’s worth an applause. A professor of Bogor Agricultural University currently achieved an International Award for his studies in the field of Agriculture.

Prof.Dr. Budi Indra Setiawan of Bogor Agricultural University received the PAWEES International Award as recognition for a series of fundamental and application studies in the field of soil and water engineering and contribution to the development of agricultural engineering education and society in Indonesia. The Award was given by the president of the International Society of Paddy and Water Environment Engineering (PAWEES), Prof. Tsuyoshi Miyazaki during its annual meeting in Jeju Island, Korea, October 27-29, 2010. The other recipient was Prof.  Yoshisuke Nakano of Utsunomiya University (second right). PAWEES International Awards are given to those who have made exceptional and valuable achievements to the advancement of Paddy and Water Environment Engineering.

By the way, This is not the only international Award that Prof. Budi Indra Setiawan has received. there are several awards in agricultural field which have been achieved by the professor who is also an editor in PAWEES. check the list,

  • Visiting Scholar, from The University of Tokyo, in 2010
  • Visiting Professor: Agriculture in Monsoon Countries, Master course, from Ibaraki University in 2007, 2008,  2009.
  • Travel Awards to 7th International Micro Irrigation Congress: Advance on microirrigation for optimum crop production and resource conservation. International Committee on Irrigation and Drainage. Kualalumpur, 10~16 September 2006, from SEARCA, in 2006.
  • Visiting Professor, Environmnetal Soil Physics and Hydrology in Sweden Agriculrural University and Wagenigen UR, Master course in European Forestry Third Country Mobility Program Erasmus Mundus Sweden and the Netherlands, in 2006

He also achieved the award Satyalancana Karya Satya from the president of Indonesia in 2006, for his 20 years of public services. If you wonder what else has he received in his life, then let me tell you, it’s countless.
