a serial of disasters which currently occured in Indonesia has brought us in pain, knowing that out there, many of our Indonesian fellows are grieving because of losing everything they know. but once again, Indonesia has been united. we don’t only sit and talk about how sad we are, we also act. not long after  the flood, tsunami and mount eruption happened, volunteers from everywhere in Indonesia came to the disaster sites to help SAR teams finding lost victims.

those who’s not able to go to Yogya, Wasior or Mentawai, hold fund raisers. soon after the news of disasters spreading on twitter, people from different ages and jobs organize multiple events for a same goal: to raise funds and donation. musicians, actors, company workers, even students. this really shows how concerned we are when our Indonesian fellows are in need.

the supports also came from social – networking world. when the disasters were happening, people kept tweeting #PrayForIndonesia, makes it trending topic for hours. some hollywood actors and musicians like Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Kim Kardashian, Arkana, Joe Jonas, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber also showed their sympathy through their tweets.

right now, things are getting better in Wasior, Yogya and Mentawai. the refugees are handled by enough volunteers, emergency schools are opened for students whose school was crushed because of the disasters. the donations are distributed well even though the distributions were obstructed by the lack of transportations.

a fast reaction of emergency situation won’t happen if Indonesian is not built with that kind of character. we laugh together, we also cry together. these disasters have put us into a united nation, making us stronger than we used to be.
