Democracy Video Challenge (DVC) is a short video competition to celebrate the world-class democracy, which is held by the U.S. State Department for the second time. More than 700 participants throughout the world sent their three-minutes video via YouTube, to complete the statement “Democracy is …”

Adhyatmika’s video titled “Democracy Is Yet to Learn” has been named the winner of the Southeast Asian regional level. Adhyatmika was born in Jakarta, and graduated from the Puttnam School of Film, Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore. “Democracy is not an object, but a process,” said Adhyatmika as he characterizes his work as “surreal satirical comedy about the life of democracy in Indonesia.”

Adhyatmika along with five other winning film maker from Iran, Spain, Colombia, Nepal and Ethiopia wins a fully sponsored travel to Washington DC, Hollywood and New York City in September. In New York and Hollywood, the winners will visit the shooting location for film/TV, and will meet with directors, film technicians, professional talent agents, and new media experts. In Washington, DC, the winners will meet with democracy activists, the media, as well as the United States government officials.

‘Democracy Video Challenge Program’ worked and collaborated with institutions like the Center for International Private Enterprise, the International Republican Institute, the International Youth Foundation, the Motion Picture Association of America, NBC-Universal, National Democratic Institute, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Recording Industry Association of America, TakingITGlobal, University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, U.S. State Department, WME and YouTube.
