Indonesia’s Very Own Coffee Shop

There are many coffee shops in Indonesia, upholding international brands, as well as Indonesian brands, ‘battling’ in malls, hangout places, shopping centers, tourism spots, etc. I have personally noticed that Indonesian homegrown coffee shops have been gaining momentum in grabbing more and more customers. To name a one, it’s Excelso.

I seriously thought that it was a coffee shop established in US or Europe until a friend informed that Excelso is 100% Indonesia-grown coffee shop.

There’s also anomali coffee, with it’s strong tagline “Kopi Asli Indonesia” :)

I am Australian and and I have retired and live mainly in Sanur, Bali.

I enjoy Excelso Toraja coffee each morning at our home in Sanur. I have visited Excelso coffee shops but will not return whilst they allow customers to smoke in their stores. The vile , stale stench of cigarettes is more than enough to put off many customers who might otherwise enjoy the rather expensive coffee and passable food.

Kopi Bali is Sanur provides a separate smoking area. The best coffee in Sanur is made by terrific young baristas at LUHTU’s on Pantai Sindhu . They use Illy coffee. A nearby very hip coffee shop on Jalan Sindhu selling smoothies and light snacks makes excellent coffee using Toraja coffee.
