Czechs, Meet Angklung And Gamelan

We have heard them, seen them, even played or performed with them, but now it’s time for the world learn and appreciate these wonderful musical instrument that we grew up with.

Angklung and gamelan, both originating from Indonesian culture, is now being showcased to the world in Parbudice Museum in Republic of Chech from 4th of February to 18th of April 2010. Accompanied by Wayang Kulit or shadow puppet, which has been designated by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on 7 November 2003, they are promised to form a spectacular exhibit.

The beautifully woven ulos from Lombok and Sumatera will also be displayed as added attraction, while Indonesian tourism brochures in Czech language to be distributed to visitors.

GNFI hopes, that this will not only bring more awareness and interest in Indonesia and its culture, but also bring these 2 nations closer in the future.

After all, music transcends language barriers, time and cultures. Music is, indeed, universal.

Angklung, gamelan and wayang kulit, you have made us proud.
