At first glance, you would have thought the band was form by a bunch of proud Indonesian boys who wanted to show off their love for their nation.
The INDONESIA band is actually formed by four Russian guys: Coal (vocal, guitar), Santa (bass), Demian (guitar, soundscapes) and Charlie (drums, percussion).
Myspace described them as,
Indonesia – band was founded in St-Petersburg in autumn 2007. The musicians’ main aim is to play high-quality rock-music including original arrangements and perfect melodies. There is a strong accent on expert combining of classical western rock and modern progressive sound elements. After the months of the rehearsals and recording demo sound-track “Pretty Colours” Indonesia regularly performs in numerous clubs of St.-Petersburg and Moskow. Mad dynamics and drive distinguishs each Indonesia set, that immediately helps the band to find their own fans.
You can also view their official website here however, it’s in Russian, of course.
We do hope the band would one day set foot on our shores. The Russian’ INDONESIA band performing in Indonesia, now that’s something to look forward to.
Here their recent performance on June 19, 2010 in St. Petersburg:

” We are an American Band “
Thanks, Ms Farina, for this weird and rare news. I am not sure if we can contact them (the band), and ask them to read GNFI
why not? If you check out their website, they provide an email there. I am sure they would be honored, and flattered.
Anyone knows..why did they pick ‘Indonesia’ as their band’s name?
Because…most of rock bands (hard rock, metal, etc..) always use a scary or something sounds rude, brutal, hard and heavy…to express their music gene..
In this case…’Indonesia’ means something good or bad..
Lets ask them…!..
they pick indonesia because their friend david who was in a missionary mission died on a plane crash in indonesia
Nope, I’m pretty sure it’s a different band that you’re referring to. The band called August Burns Red with their song “Indonesia”.
Ainun, is that true? hehehe
it’s not because they read something about Indonesia in the 60s?
*some said that we’re such a rebellious nationalist country at that time*
you know, when we have a rea~lly close relation with Russia.
haha sorry just wondering
I enjoyed reading your blog. Keep it that way.
