Ever since Obama’s name appears in the U.S. presidential election, Indonesia’s name is often associated with the first black president the power country. Obama once lived in Jakarta for four years when his mother remarried to Lolo Soetoro, a citizen of Indonesia. The name Indonesia is also often called by Obama in a speech or interview. When delivering a speech to the Muslim world in Egypt, and June 5, for example, he mentioned five times about Indonesia. In the speech, Obama describes how he always enjoyed the sunset and dawn call for prayer every day while living in Indonesia.

In several interviews with foreign media, the 44th president of the United States was also very fond of claiming Indonesian traditional foods such as meat balls and fried rice. Obama’s love for Indonesia may be limited to statements without any evidence. However, tangible evidence of this love has finally been revealed. In an article entitled Marriage First published by New York Times, it is known that Obama’s wedding ring was made in Indonesia.

The ring which was designed in piles with various patterns, was imported directly from Indonesia. The images in the magazine showed a clear ring used before marrying Michelle Obama on October 3, 1992.

The editor of The Huffington Post commented, “We always thought President Obama’s wedding ring was just a plain old gold band: the same style that many men wear. But then we read this interesting tidbit in the New York Times Magazine’s cover story “First Marriage”".
