I visited Makassar, the capital city of South Sulawesi province, twice in 2007. That time, Makassar was very very very busy developing the city by building new roads, new toll highway, new gleamy airport, new high-rise building, largest indoor theme park in the world, new sea port, new sport centers, convention centers, new sea-reclamation project, and many more. “These guys are really serious”, I said to myself once I reached the city area.
Some of the projects have been completed, while some others’ completion are underway. A friend of me, told me 2 days ago that new projects are being planned, and set the date for construction. He said that “Makassar 2030″ is the Bugis people’s (people lived in Makassar) dream. New ambitious projects which probably unthinkable a year ago, are being put on table for discussion, and some of them are planned to begin anytime soon.

Beach reclammation, the Center Point of Indonesia (CPI)
One of them is the CPI project, CENTER POINT OF INDONESIA (above), that has been started and should be ready by 2012. See the pic, and you’ll understand what is the meaning of it. By 2030, Makassar is set to become the Singapore of the east.
