Travel + Leisure Magazine has concluded its annual survey of the discerning travelers who comprise its readership asking them to name their favorite cities, islands, hotels, resorts, airlines, cruise ships and even rental car agencies.
Bali: World’s Best Island
For many years, Bali consistently ranked as the world’s best island in the prestigious poll, slipping momentarily in the 2008 polling to the number two slot. However, the 2009 Travel + Leisure survey has returned Bali to the coveted #1 spot, followed by Galapagos, which displaced Bali in the 2008 rankings.

Bali is the best island. But don’t forget to add Lombok, one of the most promising resort in Indonesia.

No Wonder Bali is the best Island in the world, but Bali is the only one island a like in the world. However, you will get many many wonder tourist destination in Indonesia, just like Maluku, Sumatera, Lombok, and the one only in the world, the Commodo’s Island. Be travelled to Indonesia, dont afraid of “small boombing”.

Bali is not as beautiful as before. I went there last year and oh, it wasn’t beautiful. I wouldn’t say bali is the best island anymore, though. I miss my old bali…not too many modern stores, cafes…it’s just the beaches or beautiful green padi farms everywhere…and some good quality handicraft small shops(now the street handicraft quality degrades (TxT) )…i don’t like some hotels as well as the staff there were rude to locals. They even didn’t give us the room we reserved…
I hope we won’t depend on the tag “best island” without really-really preserve the beauty of bali…It’s a harsh critic but i hope it can be accepted as it’s a fact and for the Bali sake.
I agree with bambang, yes, lombok is absolutely potential. I went there and it’s so great for vacation. Although there’s not much place to buy handicraft or whatsoever (jogja is the best for that, though.), but for enjoying the view, it’s great.
I wish it won’t be just bali that is famous but other islands and places.
