Indonesia, and Malaysia, are two countries produce 85% of world’s palm oil. Once I took a bus from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, taking Tuas bridge, not the other one. I managed to see the vast- very vast palm plantation along the way. I fell asleep on my seat, and when I woke up, there was still palm plantation at the road sides. Malaysia, had long been known as the world’s largest CPO producer, making up to 16 million tonnes of CPO per year.

Indonesia overtook Malaysia as the world’s largest producer last year, and now gearing up to leave Malaysia far behind, with 20 million of CPO production a year.

Considering of having better soil and bigger land, Indonesia has set to supply at least 55% of palm oil in the world by 2020, when production reaches 49 million tons a year, which is expected to generate $40 billion.

Way to go, Indonesia.
