Indonesia will soon welcome its first ever Giorgio Armani hotel which will be located at the beach of Mandalika, Lombok. This will be built in parallel with the Ritz at the same location. The resort will be jointly built by Indonesian Government and Emaar Group Dubai with total investment of $1.5 billion.

I am not too sure, but maybe this is going to be the first Giorgio Armani Hotel in Southeast Asia. Can somebody confirm this?

Oh yes, the plan is just in time with the completion of Lombok International Airport (LIA) which has been built by the very own Indonesian architects, consultants, funding, and workers, just like the other newly completed airports, Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar and Kuala Namu in North Sumatra.

A $600 million resort project will soon take place on the beachfront of Kuta Beach and Tanjung A’an, Lombok Island. This project will be jointly developed by Dubai-based Emaar Group and government of Indonesia. This follows the completion of gleaming Lombok International Airport (LIA) which will soon be functioning. A direct new road will also be built from LIA to the planned resort.

Emaar has earlier said that due to global economic downturn, it’d postpone the project, but it seems the project will soon take-off. The resort is said to be ‘’specially-designed” for tourist from the Middle East, and there’ll be direct flights from the Middle East cities to Lombok.

Lombok has always lagged behind Bali in regards to tourism. These days, Lombok is used as a stepping stone to the nearby Gili Islands. This doesn’t mean that there is nothing to do in the island. To the contrary, Lombok is an island of stunning palm-fringed, white sand beaches, and the interior of the island has majestic panoramas overlooked by Gunung Rinjani. Add to that the mystical Sasak culture and you have a perfect island holiday. There are a multitude of five star resorts and a variety of other accommodation to suit all budgets.

Lombok International Airport will be completed in October 2009

New Lombok International Airport (LIA) will be completed in October 2009, and A Middle-East consortium, Emaar Group, is getting a lot of support from the Indonesian government over the future plans for the development there, where $600 million will be spent to develop an integrated resort in the south tip of Lombok Island.

The Lombok Project will cover an area of 1,175 hectares located on Lombok’s Kuta Beach and consume a stretch of 17 kilometers of beach front. The project will include a marina, luxury private accommodations, and 5-star resorts. The project will be completed sometimes in 2012.
