I went there last year and oh, it wasn't beautiful. I wouldn't say bali is the best island anymore, though. I miss my old bali...not too many modern stores, cafes...it's just the beaches or beautiful green padi farms everywhere...and some good quality handicraft small shops(now the street handicraft quality degrades (TxT) )...i don't like some hotels as well as the staff there were rude to locals. They even didn't give us the room we reserved... I hope we won't depend on the tag "best island" without really-really preserve the beauty of bali...It's a harsh critic but i hope it can be accepted as it's a fact and for the Bali sake. I agree with bambang, yes, lombok is absolutely potential. I went there and it's so great for vacation. Although there's not much place to buy handicraft or whatsoever (jogja is the best for that, though.), but for enjoying the view, it's great. However, you will get many many wonder tourist destination in Indonesia, just like Maluku, Sumatera, Lombok, and the one only in the world, the Commodo's Island.
